Michael Chandler gives an excellent insight on why Conor McGregor is proposing to fight at middleweight- "I'm not doing as I told, he's doing what I said."

UFC lightweight Michael Chandler is not very sure about fighting Conor McGregor at 185 lbs.

This new year ‘The Notorious ‘ Conor McGregor announced that he will be making his most awaited comeback to the UFC on 29th June at International Fight Week. He also named opposing ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ coach Michael Chandler as his opponent, and he also mentioned the weight of the fight to be at 185 pounds better known as ‘middleweight division’ in the UFC.

People are excited after McGregor revealed the date of his coming back, but many are skeptical of everything The Notorious said, mainly about the weight. Him and Chandler at the middleweight division is getting labeled as ‘pointless’ because both of them are lightweight fighters, and fighting at 185 lbs won’t get them near to a championship bout.

Michael Chandler in an interview with ESPN MMA’s Brett Okamoto reacted to Conor McGregor’s announcement-

“I have a 100% confidence that I am fighting Conor McGregor on June 29th. Now, with that being said whether it’s Conor or anybody it’s a crazy sport injuries happen sicknesses happen the fight isn’t actually happening until both of us are in the cage, and Bruce Buffer starts announcing us right? Or that Bell rings.”

However, Michael Chandler believes Conor McGregor will be truthful to his words because of his history of making the fights he wanted. He always showed up to his fights, and his earlier opponents were the ones who actually pulled out of the fights.

“Now with Conor, one thing I will give him credit for- go back in his entire career, when he says he is going to be at a fight, and he is going to come to a fight, has he ever pulled out of a fight? Has the opponent ever switched on his accord? It always have been someone else pulled out of a fight. People could say what they want about Conor, but I have no problems giving the man his props!”

McGregor announced the weight of this fight to be at 185 pounds while sipping on a glass of red wine, and then gave a supervillain like laugh at the end of the video. Michael Chandler is looking pretty fine with middleweight or any weight which McGregor prefers for his return, but he is also 50/50 on whether McGregor is serious or he’s just kidding-

“Ultimately, I’m 50/50 on it and ultimately it doesn’t matter. I have spent 05 weeks around Conor, I don’t care whether he wants to fight 185, 170, 205 whatever it might be. You gotta remember, he doesn’t wanna fight at 155 because he wants everybody to believe he is bigger then he is. In his mind, he can’t fight at 170 because I called him out at 170, therefore I’m not doing as I told, he’s doing what I said at 170, so he had to say 185. Just like he did in the intro scene of the ultimate fighter telling me it was gonna be at 185.”

“I don’t give a rip about the weight is, I’m able to fluctuate my weight, I don’t need to bulk up to make 185, it would be easy and fun to make. So, the UFC and Conor kinda have to figure that out, and let me know what they are thinking, and then I can have an opinion on it. But, as of right now, I could care less about the weight.” – Michael Chandler told ESPN MMA’s Brett Okamoto.
